Text: CALCULUS, James Stewart, 6th Edition

Course Grade
35% final exam, 20+20+10=50% three tests (the lowest test grade will have the lowest weight), 15% laboratory quizzes.
The final course grade will be determined according to the following table:

93-100 -- A
  90-92 -- A-
  85-89 -- B+
  80-84 -- B
  75-79 -- B-
  70-74 -- C+
  65-69 -- C
  60-64 -- C-
  56-59 -- D+
  53-55 -- D
  50-52 -- D-
    0-49 -- F

There will be no curve in this class so that failure of your classmates should not make you happy.

There will be no makeup tests/quizzes; if you are forced to miss a test/quiz, an excuse from your doctor or other appropriate authorities must be presented. If the excuse is accepted, then your remaining tests/quizzes will be counted more heavily in computing the final grade.
No calculators will be allowed on quizzes and tests.

Final Exam

Tuesday, Dec 11, 2007, 8 AM - Noon
Locations to be announced.
Missing the final exam without the prior notification to and approval of me  will automatically result in the "F" grade for the semester; you need to present to me  a valid and written excuse from your doctor or dean within 1 day of the exam.

Calculators allowed on the final exam are: TI-84 plus  graphics calculators;  other acceptable calculators are: TI-82, 83 plus, 85, 86.
Calculators with symbolic manipulation capabilities are NOT acceptable.

Quizzes

The quizzes will be given in Lab, each lasting about 10-20 minutes. The problems on the quizzes will be similar to the examples that I work on in my lectures, to the homework problems and to the examples solved in the textbook. Two worst quizzes will be dropped before a student's grade is calculated.

Tests

The tests will be given on the following dates:
Test 1:  September 28.
Test 2:  October 26.
Test 3:  November 30.
Notice that unlike the final exam date, the tests dates are tentative and are subject to change.

Homework

Homework will not be collected. However, some homework problems with or without modifications will appear in the quizzes and tests.  Thus it is absolutely imperative for you to work on each and every homework problem assigned below.
